California Highway 9
Saratoga to Santa Cruz, CA

September 26, 1998

One thing we noticed was how many houses were for sale. It seemed like every half a mile there was another Re-Max sign in our faces. Another thing, while this road is more scenic than Hwy 17, it is also very windy, and I would not recommend it for those who get motion sickness easily. By the time we reached Boulder Creek I was feeling quite light headed and on edge (you know how it is, when someone asks if you're ok, you respond with a "shut-up!") But then we ate and got some coffee and that made us feel better. Boulder Creek is pretty cool.
It seems very laid back, and kind of "hempy", if you know what I mean. A small grocery store and various antique stores and restaurants line the main street. There is a really neat store next door to Mac's 100 year old place that has a great collection of antique toys.

Our next stop was Ben Lomond.
