California Highway 9
Saratoga to Santa Cruz, CA

September 26, 1998

We spotted a cool looking antique store on the only corner of Ben Lomond with a stop light (to the left). Well, it seemed liked the only light anyway. So, we grabbed a place to park directly behind the store and headed over. Note if you happen to park here rmemeber "Don't Pick The Flowers". Evidently this has been a problem in the past. So, into"Ben Lomond Antique" we headed. The first thing we noticed (and I bet you notice it first as well) was this giant chair. I'm at a loss to think something witty to say about it, other than it was a big ass chair. This place had alot of books , furniture, and a little area dedicated to western antiques (guns, arrows, etc). A nice place with friendly people working there.

Moving on out of Ben Lomond we headed south on 9 towards Santa Cruz. Moving down 9 we encountered no less than five more "religous" retreats and "healing" centers. Neither of us were feeling much like stopping and being "born again" so on we went. After passing a few opportunities to purchase a carved bear, horses head, or inscense by the gross we stopped in Felton. Not a whole lot here, but there was this cool covered bridge (ala"Bridges of Madison County"). All in all, a reallly nice drive. We finished up the drive on 9 by continuing on into Santa Cruz then taking Highway 17 north back towards San Francisco.
