October 4, 1998

This guy was in a really cool old Willy's (circa late '40s I think). He took on these rocks like they were nothing at all. We all applauded when he got through without a scratch. Five minutes later a guy in an old beater Trooper (with a much longer wheel base) tried it and SMACK, crushed in the whole left front bumper!
So we thought we would try one of the less dangerous obstacles, which was the teeter totter. My guess is that the intention of this thing is to be familiar with your vehicle. The idea is to drive onto the platform and try to balance. Like this guy in his Ford monster truck. It's not as easy as it looks! Just when you think you have it, a butterfly lands on the hood and your front end crashes down, giving a slight sensation of whiplash.
It's a bit difficult to see here, but someone evidently drove too far forward and bent one of the steel poles (dude, lay off the caffeine)!
Just off the obstacle course are the trails that head up into the hills.
