Deep in the heart of downtown Sacramento you'll find a great place to spend the day. Just off Highway 5 at the Capital City of California, you ease your way around the Capital Building, pass Sutters Fort and you'll find yourself back in time about 100 years. Unlike a trip we recently took to Isleton, this historic town is not only in pristine condition, but is full of life and great things to do.

Old Town Sacramento is about 6 city blocks of living history. IT consists of old wooden sidewalks with historic buildings along both sides of the street. Here you'll find over 100 shops, restaurants and museums! Though you can drive your car into the old town area, it's much more fun to walk and not very far at all. The day we went the weather was fantastic. A bit warmer than the average spring day in Sacramento it was a nice 85 degrees or so. Keep an eye on the forecast when you go as it can, and regularly does, get well over 100 degrees in this area. With that in mind during the summer an early morning start isn't a bad idea.

Walking along Front St., right along the Sacramento River, you can see the Tower Bridge as well as all of the cool vintage Paddlewheel boats that are docked closeby.
